A tragic mass shooting shook Las Cruces, New Mexico, late Friday night. Gunfire erupted at Young Park, leaving several people injured. Around 10 p.m., police responded to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers and emergency crews found multiple victims with gunshot wounds. As a result, most were rushed to local hospitals, while others were taken to the University Medical Center in El Paso.

The shooting took place during a popular monthly event where car enthusiasts showcase their modified sports cars. Nearly 200 people attended the gathering, creating a lively, party-like atmosphere. However, the mood quickly changed when a fight broke out, leading to gunfire. Witnesses described scenes of panic as people ran for safety. Additionally, at least one person was spotted carrying what appeared to be an assault-style weapon.

Authorities Search for Suspects

So far, police have not identified any suspects or determined a motive. Nevertheless, they are receiving support from multiple law enforcement agencies, including the New Mexico State Police, the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

Although some families fear their loved ones may have been killed, police have yet to confirm any fatalities. Furthermore, officials have not released the exact number of injured victims or the severity of their wounds.

Community Urged to Assist Investigation

Meanwhile, investigators continue reviewing evidence and searching for leads. They are urging anyone with information or video footage to come forward. As the city processes this shocking event, the community remains on high alert, hoping for justice and answers.
