Delhi Capitals (DC) clinched a thrilling one-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) with three balls to spare. Vipraj Nigam and Ashutosh Sharma delivered outstanding performances that turned the game. Match 4 of IPL 2025 took place at ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam. DC won the toss and chose to bowl first.
LSG’s Explosive Start
Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram opened for LSG. Mitchell Starc bowled the first over, but Marsh smashed a six on the last ball. Axar Patel took over from the other end. Both batters found boundaries easily, and Marsh accelerated. LSG reached 33/0 after three overs.

Marsh and Pooran Dominate
LSG crossed the 100-run mark in 8.2 overs. Marsh and Pooran kept smashing boundaries. After 10 overs, LSG stood at 117/1, with Marsh at 64 off 31 balls and Pooran at 35 off 16.
Mukesh Kumar provided the breakthrough, dismissing Marsh for 72 runs off 36 balls, including six fours and six sixes. Rishabh Pant walked in at No. 4. LSG reached 133/2 after 12 overs.
Pooran continued his assault, reaching his fifty in 24 balls with four fours and six sixes. He dominated the 13th over, scoring 0,6,6,6,6,4. However, Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Pant for a duck in the 14th over. LSG struggled at 162/3.
Delhi Capitals Fight Back
Mitchell Starc removed Pooran for 75 runs off 30 balls. LSG stood at 170/4 after 15 overs. Ayush Badoni joined David Miller but fell to Kuldeep Yadav in the 17th over. Shardul Thakur followed for a duck. LSG slumped to 178/6.
Starc struck again in the 19th over, dismissing Shahbaz Ahmad and Ravi Bishnoi. LSG reached 194/8. Miller’s late six pushed the total past 200. LSG ended at 209/8.
Delhi Capitals’ Chaotic Chase
Jake Fraser-McGurk and Faf du Plessis opened for DC. Shardul Thakur struck twice in the first over, removing Fraser-McGurk and Abhishek Porel for a duck. DC struggled at 6/2.
Manimaran Siddharth dismissed Sameer Rizvi for 4 runs. Axar Patel arrived at No. 5 and started scoring quickly. However, Digvesh Singh dismissed him for 22 off 11 balls just before the powerplay ended. DC reached 58/4 after six overs.

Nigam and Sharma Lead the Comeback
Vipraj Nigam counter-attacked, smashing boundaries all over the ground. He raced to 30 off 11 balls, reducing the target. DC reached 148/6 after 15 overs. Sharma also joined in with a massive six. The duo built a quick 50-run partnership. DC moved to 168/6 after 16 overs.
Digvesh Singh dismissed Nigam for 39 off 15 balls. Starc followed him to the crease but fell to Bishnoi on the first ball of the 18th over. DC reached 171/8.
Sharma fought back, bringing DC close to the target. Kuldeep Yadav chipped in with a crucial boundary in the 19th over. However, he was run out at a tense moment, leaving DC at 192/9.
Sharma Finishes in Style
Mohit Sharma arrived at No. 11. Ashutosh Sharma completed his fifty in 28 balls, delivering under pressure. He struck more boundaries, pushing DC to 204/9 after 19 overs.
With six runs needed in the final over, Shahbaz Ahmad bowled. Ashutosh Sharma, who scored 66 off 31 balls, sealed the match with a six. Delhi Capitals won by one wicket.
