Eleven coaches of the Bengaluru-Kamakhya AC Superfast Express derailed near Nergundi station in Cuttack district on Sunday at 11:54 am. According to reports, no injuries or casualties have been reported so far.

Cause and Location
The East Coast Railway (ECoR) officials confirmed that the derailment occurred in the Cuttack-Nergundi section of the Khurda Road division.
Meanwhile, senior railway officials rushed to the scene. This included the ECoR General Manager and the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Khurda Road. They began an investigation immediately.
Emergency Response
In response to the incident, accident relief and medical relief trains were sent to the area. Ashok Kumar Mishra, Chief Public Relations Officer of ECoR, stated, “A special train is being arranged to transport stranded passengers to their destination. We have issued helpline numbers for train passengers and their families. Help desks have also been set up at Bhubaneswar, Bhadrak, and Cuttack railway stations.”
Current Situation and Actions
Furthermore, he added, “The cause of the derailment is yet to be determined. Right now, our focus is on diverting stranded trains on this route and providing necessary facilities to affected passengers at the derailment site. A special train will be arranged for their evacuation.”
Impact on Other Trains
As a result, three other trains had to be diverted to different routes. The exact cause of the derailment is still under investigation.
