Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will host Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 19th match of IPL 2025. The clash will take place on April 6 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. So far, SRH have struggled, entering this match after three straight defeats.
Strong Start, But Form Faded
Initially, SRH impressed with a dominant win over Rajasthan Royals. However, they quickly lost momentum. They went on to suffer back-to-back defeats against Lucknow Super Giants, Delhi Capitals, and Kolkata Knight Riders.
Since then, their top-order has looked shaky. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma failed to provide strong starts. Additionally, Ishan Kishan, who scored a century in his first match, couldn’t maintain that form. As a result, the pressure shifted to the middle order—Nitish Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen, and Aniket Verma.
So far, SRH have managed five 50-plus partnerships. Even so, their average partnership stands at just 21.68, which is the lowest in the league. This highlights their inconsistency.
Bowling Woes Continue
Not only have their batters struggled, but their bowlers have also disappointed. Mohammed Shami and Pat Cummins have picked up only three wickets each. Moreover, Shami’s economy rate sits at 10, while Cummins concedes at 12.30.
To improve, SRH tried rotating overseas bowlers like Adam Zampa and Wiaan Mulder. However, neither made a real impact. So far, the team averages fewer than five wickets per game.
What’s worse, their bowlers have the highest economy rate in the tournament. They concede over 10 runs per over in every phase. In the death overs, that figure climbs to nearly 17 runs per over.
Gujarat Titans Look Confident
Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans seem in control. Although they lost their first game to Punjab Kings, they quickly bounced back. They beat Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their next two games.
In contrast to SRH, GT’s top-order batters have given them solid starts. As a result, their middle order hasn’t been tested much. In their last match, GT dominated RCB with the bat. Before that, they almost chased 244 in their opener and posted 196 on a slower track against MI.
Clearly, they have momentum on their side.
Expect Runs in Hyderabad
Since IPL 2024, Hyderabad’s pitch has favored batters. The average first-innings score at this ground is 213. This will be the third game here this season, so the surface remains fresh.
Naturally, SRH will welcome a return to their home ground. In their first match at this venue, they smashed a record 286 runs.
Head-to-Head: GT Lead the Rivalry
Historically, GT have dominated this fixture. In four encounters, Gujarat Titans have won three. Sunrisers Hyderabad have won only once.
In short, SRH want to end their losing streak. On the other hand, GT aim to continue their winning run. With Hyderabad’s pitch offering runs, fans can expect another high-scoring thriller.
