Mohun Bagan Super Giant booked their place in a third straight Indian Super League 2024-25 final. They defeated Jamshedpur FC 2-0 in the second leg of the semi-final on Monday. As a result, they won the tie 3-2 on aggregate.

Early Pressure from Mohun Bagan

Right from kick-off, Mohun Bagan showed urgency. They attacked with intent and controlled possession. In the 16th minute, Liston Colaco made a strong run down the right. He fired in a cross that was cleared, but Jason Cummings pounced on the loose ball. However, his shot went well over the bar. Soon after, Colaco and Cummings linked up again. This time, Cummings played the ball to the left. A series of quick passes ended with Asish Rai heading the ball back to him. Even so, Cummings couldn’t get the shot off cleanly. Albino Gomes made an easy save.

Cummings Converts Crucial Penalty

After the break, MBSG got their breakthrough. In the 51st minute, a handball by Pronay Halder gave them a penalty. Cummings stepped up with confidence. He slotted it into the bottom right corner. Consequently, the aggregate score was level at 2-2. As the game moved forward, Mohun Bagan  kept pushing. In the 79th minute, Colaco delivered a corner. Although Jamshedpur cleared it, the ball fell to Cummings again. He tried to curl it into the top corner, but the shot missed the target.

Ralte Strikes Late to Win It

Then, in added time, came the decisive moment. Anirudh Thapa sent a pass to Lalengmawia Ralte outside the box. Rather than build the play, Ralte took a bold shot. His strike flew into the top right corner. That goal sealed the 2-0 win on the night and sent Mohun Bagan to the final.

Key Performer

Lalengmawia Ralte was outstanding. He completed 66 of his 69 passes. Additionally, he made one clearance, one cross, and two tackles. He created three chances and scored the winning goal.

Mohun Bagan Super Giant will face Bengaluru FC in the Indian Super League 2024-25 final on Saturday, April 12 at the same stadium. Jamshedpur FC are now knocked out and end their season with this defeat.
