Russia Bombs Kyiv After Trump Blames Zelenskyy for War Delay
Russia launched a deadly airstrike on Kyiv just hours after Donald Trump accused Zelenskyy of blocking peace efforts.

At least nine people died after Russia launched a missile and drone attack on Kyiv overnight. Moreover, the city’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, confirmed that 60 others suffered injuries. He added that falling drone debris caused fires and may have trapped some people under collapsed buildings.

Meanwhile, Russia also attacked Kharkiv in the northeast. As a result, two people were injured, according to the local mayor.

Importantly, the attack came just hours after US President Donald Trump accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of prolonging the war.

Trump Blames Zelenskyy for Delaying Peace

Earlier on TruthSocial, Trump claimed a peace deal was “very close.” However, he argued that Zelenskyy’s refusal to accept US terms would “do nothing but prolong” the conflict.

He stated, “Nobody is asking Zelenskyy to recognise Crimea as Russian Territory, but if he wants Crimea, why didn’t they fight for it eleven years ago?” He also added, “I have nothing to do with Russia, but have much to do with wanting to save, on average, five thousand Russian and Ukrainian soldiers a week, who are dying for no reason whatsoever.”

Furthermore, Trump emphasized, “The statement made by Zelenskyy today will do nothing but prolong the ‘killing field,’ and nobody wants that! We are very close to a Deal, but the man with ‘no cards to play’ should now, finally, GET IT DONE.”

Trump Pushes for War to End

Later, while speaking at the White House, Trump told reporters he wants the war to stop. In addition, he claimed it was easier to deal with Russia than with Ukraine.

On the same day, US Vice President JD Vance outlined the US vision for a peace agreement. According to him, both Russia and Ukraine would need to accept current territorial positions. This would mean each side gives up some land it currently controls.

Ongoing Tensions Raise Doubts About Peace

As tensions rise, the chance of a peace deal seems uncertain. On one hand, Ukraine insists it will not surrender Crimea. On the other hand, Russia continues its military attacks.

Therefore, the recent clash between Trump and Zelenskyy has cast more doubt on peace prospects. Additionally, Russia's deadly airstrikes further complicate any efforts to negotiate.
