Pakistan Must Help India Catch Terrorists, Says US Vice President
US Vice President JD Vance urged Pakistan to assist India in finding terrorists after the deadly Pahalgam attack, while calling for calm to avoid regional conflict.

US Vice President JD Vance has urged Pakistan to help India track down terrorists hiding in its territory. This statement came after a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 people, mostly tourists, lost their lives.

Vance Urges Caution and Action

Vance, while speaking to Fox News, reacted strongly to the attack. Notably, he and his family were in India on a visit when the incident took place. It turned out to be the deadliest attack in the region since the 2019 Pulwama bombing.

As a result, Vance asked India to stay calm. “Our hope here is that India responds to this terrorist attack in a way that doesn’t lead to a broader regional conflict,” he said on Special Report with Bret Baier.

At the same time, he called on Pakistan to act. “And we hope, frankly, that Pakistan, to the extent that they’re responsible, cooperates with India to ensure that the terrorists sometimes operating from their territory are hunted down and dealt with,” he added.

US Tries to Lower Tension

In the wake of rising tensions, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio reached out to both India and Pakistan. First, he spoke with India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. Shortly after, he called Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

During the conversation, Jaishankar demanded justice. He made it clear that those responsible for the attack must face punishment.

US Stands With India Against Terrorism

Moreover, the US urged both countries to avoid further conflict. It also repeated its promise to support India in fighting terrorism.

So far, investigations show that the Resistance Front (TRF), a group linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack. The Pahalgam incident killed 26 people, including a citizen from Nepal. Several others were seriously injured.
