Gujarat Titans defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 38 runs, thanks to explosive batting and key wickets from Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj.

Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 38 runs in the 51st match of IPL 2025 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. GT posted a massive total of 224/4, powered by blazing knocks from Gill, Buttler, and Sudharsan. In reply, Abhishek Sharma played a superb innings for SRH, but once he got out, the target slipped out of reach. Prasidh Krishna took two crucial wickets for GT, while Mohammed Siraj strengthened their chances of victory by claiming two quick wickets in the death overs.

Sudharsan and Gill Give Explosive Start

Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and chose to bowl first. Gujarat Titans opened with Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill. Mohammad Shami bowled the first over, and Gill launched a six, setting the tone early. GT scored 12 runs in the first over and 5 more in the second.

Sudharsan exploded in the third over, smashing five boundaries off Shami. GT reached 44/0 after three overs. Gill then hit back-to-back boundaries off Pat Cummins in the fourth over and ended it with a six. GT crossed 50 runs in just four overs.

Sudharsan dominated Harshal Patel in the fifth over with four boundaries. Gill followed up with more boundaries in the sixth over off Unadkat. After six overs, GT stood strong at 82/0. Sudharsan was batting on 45, while Gill had 36.

SRH Strikes Back, But GT Stays Firm

Zeeshan Ansari removed Sudharsan in the seventh over. He scored 48 off 23 balls. Jos Buttler joined Gill at the crease. Pat Cummins then bowled a tight eighth over, giving away just four runs. GT reached 93/1 in eight overs.

Buttler hit a six in the ninth over, helping GT cross 100. Gill then completed his fifty with a boundary in the tenth over. Buttler also reached his half-century in the same over. After 10 overs, GT were cruising at 120/1.

Gill kept attacking, hitting boundaries off Kamindu Mendis and Harshal Patel. Buttler was dropped by Cummins in the 12th over. However, SRH struck again in the 13th when Buttler was run out. Harshal Patel then dismissed Gill for 76. GT were at 149/2.

GT Posts Big Total

Washington Sundar came in at No. 4. GT slowed down a bit in the next few overs but still managed to reach 162/2 after 15 overs. In the 17th over, Buttler reached his fifty with a boundary and six.

He continued attacking and helped GT cross 200 in the 18th over. Cummins dismissed him in the 19th over for 64. Shahrukh Khan came in and hit a six first ball.

Unadkat picked three wickets in the final over, dismissing Sundar, Tewatia, and Rashid Khan. Despite that, GT posted a mammoth total of 224/6 in 20 overs.

Abhishek Leads Early SRH Fight

Chasing 225, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head opened for SRH. Siraj started with a 15-run over. Ishant Sharma conceded another boundary and six in the second over. SRH were 33/0 after three overs.

Abhishek kept going strong, hitting boundaries and sixes. Prasidh Krishna broke the partnership in the fifth over by dismissing Head for 20. Ishan Kishan joined Abhishek as SRH reached 50 in five overs.

After six overs, SRH were at 57/1. Abhishek had 28 off 16 balls.

GT Takes Control in the Middle Overs

Prasidh and Coetzee bowled tight overs next. Coetzee dismissed Kishan in the 10th over. Heinrich Klaasen came in next. At the halfway mark, SRH were 85/2, with Abhishek nearing his fifty.

Abhishek brought up his half-century in the 12th over with a six. He continued his aggressive batting. In the 15th over, he and Klaasen completed a 50-run stand. But Ishant dismissed Abhishek on the last ball of that over for a well-made 74. SRH were 139/3.

GT Bowlers Seal the Win

Prasidh Krishna removed Klaasen in the 16th over. Siraj struck twice in the 17th, dismissing Aniket Verma and Kamindu Mendis in consecutive balls. Cummins avoided the hat-trick but SRH were struggling at 149/6.

Reddy and Cummins added some quick runs in the next two overs. Cummins hit a six, and Reddy struck back-to-back sixes in the 19th over. But SRH still needed too much.

In the final over, Ishant bowled two deliveries before leaving the field. Sai Kishore completed the over. Only 5 runs came from it. SRH ended their innings at 186/6, falling short by 38 runs.

Player of the Match: Prasidh Krishna

Gujarat Titans are cruising at the moment. The trio of Sudharsan, Gill, and Buttler have been scoring runs consistently in almost every match this IPL season. They have maintained a strong run rate throughout. Gujarat has posted more than 200 runs in five matches, scored over 195 in two games, and chased targets before the 18th over in two other matches. All this clearly highlights the team's strength. Prasidh Krishna and Sai Kishore have been taking crucial wickets whenever needed. The Titans are playing like true champions.

On the other hand, Sunrisers have the potential to chase even big targets like 245, but they haven’t played to their full capacity. They need to stay calm and focus on preserving wickets. Abhishek Sharma played well today but lacked support from the other end. In most matches, their top order collapses early, exposing the middle and lower order. They need to improve across all departments of the game.  Stay tuned with JUSZNEWS for regular updates!
