IPL 2025: Rain Washes Out Match Between Sunrisers and Delhi Capitals, Both Teams Settle for a Point Each
Rain washed out the clash between SRH and DC, with both teams sharing a point after Delhi posted 133/7.

The match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was abandoned due to rain. Both teams received one point from the match. It was the 55th match of IPL 2025, held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Bengaluru. Despite losing early wickets, Delhi Capitals posted a total of 133/7 in 20 overs, thanks to blazing knocks from Ashutosh Sharma and Tristan Stubbs.

Cummins Gave Early Blows to Delhi Capitals

Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and opted to bowl. Faf du Plessis and Karun Nair opened the innings for Delhi Capitals. Pat Cummins started the bowling attack. He struck on the first ball, dismissing Karun Nair. Abhishek Porel walked in at No. 3. Only 3 runs came from the first over. Jaydev Unadkat bowled a tight second over, giving away just 3 runs.

Then, Cummins struck again in the third over. He removed Faf du Plessis, who managed only 3 runs from 8 balls. KL Rahul entered next. Porel hit a boundary, but Delhi stood at 11/2 after 3 overs. Unadkat bowled the fourth over and gave away only 4 runs. Again, Cummins struck on the first ball of the fifth over, dismissing Porel for 8 runs. Axar Patel came in and hit a boundary to get off the mark.

Wickets Continue to Fall

Only 4 runs came from the fifth over. Harshal Patel bowled the sixth over. Rahul got a boundary, but Harshal dismissed Axar on the fifth ball. He scored 6 runs. Tristan Stubbs came in next. After the powerplay, Delhi were struggling at 26/4.

Eshan Malinga bowled the seventh over and gave only 3 runs. In the next over, Unadkat dismissed Rahul for 10 runs. Vipraj Nigam came to bat. After 8 overs, Delhi were 30/5.

Stubbs and Nigam Try to Rebuild

Malinga bowled the ninth over and conceded 7 runs. In the 10th over, Zeeshan Ansari gave away 10 runs. Nigam hit a six and a four. At the halfway mark, Delhi reached 47/5. Stubbs had 4 runs, and Nigam was batting on 14.

In the 11th over, Abhishek Sharma bowled and gave just 5 runs. Delhi crossed 50. Harshal Patel returned for the 12th over. Stubbs found a boundary. DC stood at 61/5 after 12 overs.

Delhi Lose Another Wicket

Zeeshan Ansari bowled the 13th over. Nigam got run out off the first delivery. He scored 18 runs. Ashutosh Sharma came in as an impact sub. Only 6 runs came from the over. Delhi were 67/6 after 13 overs.

Unadkat bowled the 14th and gave only 5 runs. Then, Ashutosh changed gears in the 15th over. He hit two sixes off Ansari. It was the best over for Delhi so far. DC were 86/6 after 15 overs.

Late Fightback Lifts Delhi

Cummins bowled the 16th over and gave away just 7 runs. Harshal Patel came for the 17th. Ashutosh hit a boundary on the fifth ball, bringing up the 100. He finished the over with another four. In the 18th over, Malinga conceded two boundaries to Stubbs. Stubbs and Ashutosh brought up their 50-run stand. Delhi reached 115/6.

Harshal Patel bowled the 19th over. Ashutosh smashed a six. Delhi got 9 runs from the over. In the final over, Malinga dismissed Ashutosh on the fourth delivery. He scored 41 off 26 balls. Mitchell Starc came in and got off the mark. Stubbs ended the innings with a boundary. Delhi Capitals finished on 133/7 in 20 overs. Stubbs remained unbeaten on 41 from 33 balls. Starc stayed not out on 1 run.

Sunrisers needed 134 to win. However, rain interrupted the game. The match was abandoned without a single ball being bowled in the second innings.
