U.S. Issues Travel Warning For Pakistan After Indian Airstrikes
After India’s targeted strikes on terror camps, the U.S. warns citizens to avoid Pakistan amid escalating cross-border tensions.

The U.S. Department of State has issued a fresh travel warning for Pakistan after India launched Operation Sindoor. This military action included precise strikes on terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

While addressing the development, the State Department said it is “aware of reports of military strikes by India into Pakistan.” Moreover, it noted that the situation is evolving and confirmed, “We are closely monitoring developments.”

Travel Warnings Intensified

Consequently, the advisory reminded U.S. citizens of earlier alerts. It reiterated the "Do Not Travel" warning for areas near the India-Pakistan border and the Line of Control due to “terrorism and the potential for armed conflict.” Additionally, it advised Americans to reconsider travel to Pakistan in general.

Because of the conflict, the advisory also warned that "airspace has been closed," and "many flights have been cancelled." Therefore, officials urged Americans in affected areas to leave if safe or otherwise shelter in place. Furthermore, the U.S. Embassy assured that it will issue updates through its message system.

March Advisory Echoed Again

Earlier in March, the U.S. had issued a similar caution. At that time, it advised, “Do not travel to Balochistan Province and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Province… due to terrorism.” It had also warned against visiting regions near the India-Pakistan border and the LoC.

Operation Sindoor: Targeted Strikes on Terror Camps

On Wednesday, Indian armed forces struck nine locations tied to terror outfits like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). These strikes were part of Operation Sindoor and came just days after the Pahalgam massacre.

The Defence Ministry explained that the strikes were “focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature.” It also emphasized, “No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted.” In addition, it stated that India “demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution.”

Response to Pahalgam Massacre

Earlier this month, a terrorist attack in Pahalgam killed 26 civilians, including one Nepali national. In response, India vowed to hold the attackers accountable. The Defence Ministry reaffirmed, “We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable.”
