The match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC), set for May 8 in Dharamshala, is now uncertain. The BCCI is still waiting for government clearance. This situation follows Operation Sindoor, which India launched on May 7 in response to a terror attack in Pahalgam last month.

India Launches Precision Strikes

On Wednesday, India carried out strikes on nine terror camps. These camps were linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. The government confirmed the targets were non-military. Moreover, it stated the strikes were "measured, focused, and non-escalatory."

Flight Suspensions Impact IPL Travel

As a result of the strikes, flight operations in northwest India were suspended. Airports in Dharamshala, Chandigarh, Leh, Jammu, Srinagar, and Amritsar are all affected. This move came after India targeted terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.

Team Travel Plans Disrupted

Due to these flight cancellations, IPL teams now face travel issues. For example, Mumbai Indians were scheduled to arrive in Dharamshala on Thursday for their May 11 match. However, the airport closure makes this difficult. Consequently, the BCCI may shift the match to another venue.

Match Status Unclear Despite DC’s Early Arrival

Initially, the PBKS vs DC game seemed safe. The Delhi Capitals had already reached Dharamshala before the airport shut down. But now, concerns are growing. Since Dharamshala is close to the India-Pakistan border, the match may be called off or moved for safety.

BCCI Closely Monitoring the Situation

Meanwhile, the BCCI is keeping a close watch. The IPL is nearing the end of its league phase. Therefore, any travel delays or security concerns could affect team planning and match schedules.

Nevertheless, a top BCCI official told India Today, "The IPL will continue as scheduled for now, despite the evolving geopolitical situation."
