IAEA Rules Out Radiation Leak in Pakistan After Airstrikes by India Amid Operation Sindoor
The IAEA confirmed there was no radiation leak in Pakistan after Indian airstrikes, dismissing rumors of a nuclear facility being hit during Operation Sindoor.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed on Wednesday that there was no radiation leak from any nuclear site in Pakistan. This statement came after several foreign media reports and social media posts claimed that Indian airstrikes hit a nuclear facility in Kirana Hills, located in Pakistan’s Sargodha region, during Operation Sindoor. The reports alleged that the strike caused a radiation leak, sparking public fear and political tension.

However, the IAEA quickly dismissed those claims. Fredrik Dahl from the agency’s press department told The Times of India via email, “We are aware of the reports. Based on information available to the IAEA, there was no radiation leak or release from any nuclear facility in Pakistan.”

Indian Air Force Denies Targeting Kirana Hills

Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force also denied any involvement in an attack on Kirana Hills.

Air Marshal A K Bharti, Director General of Military Operations, addressed the media two days earlier. He firmly stated that India did not strike any nuclear location. Bharti said, “Thank you for telling us that Kirana Hills houses nuclear installations. We didn’t know about it. We have not hit Kirana Hills or whatever is there.”

India’s Foreign Ministry Rejects Speculation

In addition, India’s Ministry of External Affairs clarified the situation. During a press briefing on Tuesday, spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India’s military actions were within conventional limits. He added, “Our military action was entirely within the conventional domain. Some reports were suggesting that Pakistan’s National Command Authority would convene a meeting, but those were later denied. In fact, Pakistan’s government representatives have officially denied this on record.”

Operation Sindoor: India Targets Terror Camps

The controversy started after India launched Operation Sindoor in the early hours of May 8. Indian forces carried out coordinated airstrikes on nine terror-linked locations across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

These operations aimed to eliminate key leaders of terror groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba. As part of the strikes, the Indian Air Force destroyed terror bases in Bahawalpur and Muridke, two known strongholds of these groups.

Pakistan Retaliates, But India Blocks Attacks

Following India’s strikes, Pakistan attempted several missile and drone attacks. However, Indian forces stayed alert and successfully neutralized all incoming threats. No damage was reported on Indian soil.

India Responds with Precision Strikes

In response to these failed attacks, India struck back with full force. The Indian Air Force targeted and destroyed several key Pakistani military assets, including radar sites and airbases.

Indian jets also avoided Chinese-supplied air defense systems used by Pakistan. This demonstrated India’s ability to outmaneuver advanced defense technology and deliver accurate strikes.
