An Israeli airstrike killed at least 24 Palestinians on Sunday in Khan Younis, a city in southern Gaza. According to local health officials, the strike hit a tent camp that was sheltering displaced families.
As a result, many tents caught fire. The explosion also injured several people, including women and children.
Strikes Intensify Across Gaza
In the past 72 hours, Israel has increased its attacks across Gaza. As a result, hundreds of Palestinians have died, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
Despite U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent visit to the region, the airstrikes have continued without pause.
Hamas Condemns the Attack
On Sunday, Hamas issued a strong response. The group called the airstrike a “new brutal crime” and blamed the U.S. for supporting Israel’s military actions.
Israel Justified Ongoing Operations
Although the Israeli army did not comment on the specific strike in Khan Younis, it did release an earlier statement. In it, the military said it was launching wide-ranging attacks in Gaza. The goal, it said, was to achieve key objectives in the war.
New Talks Begin
Meanwhile, Egypt and Qatar have restarted indirect talks between Israel and Hamas. The U.S. is also backing these negotiations. Officials from both sides confirmed that talks began on Saturday in Doha, Qatar.
No Progress Reported
So far, there has been no breakthrough. Sources close to the talks told Reuters that both sides are still firm in their positions. As a result, the negotiations have not moved forward.
