Lucknow Super Giants spinner Digvesh Rathi is known for his fiery, in-your-face celebrations after taking wickets. Many expected that his passionate style might eventually cause a confrontation. That moment came during the eighth over of Sunrisers Hyderabad's chase.
Rathi Gets Abhishek but Sparks Clash
Rathi dismissed the dangerous Abhishek Sharma, who had scored a quick 59 off just 20 balls. He had him caught at the boundary, which was a key breakthrough for LSG. However, his aggressive celebration didn’t go down well with Abhishek. The two had a brief exchange of words on the field, even though SRH were still comfortably ahead in their chase.

Fans Turn Rathi’s Celebration Against Him
Later in the game, Rathi’s own celebration came back to haunt him. During his final over, Kamindu Mendis smashed him for three consecutive fours. As Rathi struggled, SRH fans in Lucknow mocked his earlier "notebook-signing" celebration.
Among them was Jake Jeakings, an Australian YouTuber who closely resembles English cricketer Sam Curran. Jeakings has been a familiar face in IPL 2025, showing up in support of various teams. He copied Rathi’s celebration from the stands, drawing laughs and attention as SRH gained full control of the match.
SRH Dominate and Seal Win
That expensive over from Rathi helped shift momentum entirely in SRH’s favour. Despite his earlier success in taking key wickets like Abhishek and Ishan Kishan, he couldn’t prevent the damage. SRH chased down the big target of 206 with ease, finishing the match with 10 balls left.
No Bad Blood After the Match
Even though tensions flared earlier, both Rathi and Abhishek made peace by the end. They were seen smiling and chatting after the game. Abhishek said, "I spoke to him after the game, and it is all good now," during the post-match presentation.
Rathi Shines But LSG Fall Short
Rathi has performed well for LSG throughout the season, taking 14 wickets in 12 matches. However, his efforts were not enough to save the team. This match was a must-win for LSG to stay in the playoff race, but the loss meant elimination.
