Iran has warned that if its nuclear sites are attacked by Israel, the United States will also be held responsible. Iran’s top diplomat, Abbas Araghchi, issued the warning in a letter sent to the United Nations.
"We believe that in the event of any attack on the nuclear facilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran by the Zionist regime, the US government will also be involved and bear legal responsibility," Araghchi wrote.
His statement came after a CNN report mentioned that unnamed US officials said Israel may be preparing for such a strike.

2015 Nuclear Deal and Snapback Sanctions
The nuclear agreement signed in 2015 includes a provision for quickly reapplying UN sanctions if Iran breaks its promises. This process is called the “snapback” mechanism.
Britain, France, and Germany—three key European countries that are part of the agreement—have warned that they will consider using this option if Europe’s safety is at risk.
Iran Warns of Dire Consequences
In response, Araghchi cautioned that using the snapback mechanism would have serious effects.
He said such a move would lead to “consequences not only the end of Europe's role in the agreement, but also an escalation of tensions that could become irreversible.”
