IPL 2025: Sunrisers Hyderabad Thrash KKR by 110 Runs to End Campaign in Style
Sunrisers Hyderabad ended their IPL 2025 campaign in style with a dominant 110-run win over Kolkata Knight Riders.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) crushed Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 110 runs in the 68th match of IPL 2025, held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. SRH posted 278/3 on the scoreboard, thanks to a blazing half-century by Travis Head and a quickfire century from Heinrich Klaasen.

While chasing, Sunil Narine gave KKR a flying start, but Eshan Malinga (3/31 in 3.4 overs), Jaydev Unadkat (3/24 in 4 overs), and Harsh Dubey (3/34 in 4 overs) demolished their batting line-up. Manish Pandey and Harshit Rana showed some resistance, but it wasn't enough to get close to the target.

Sunrisers started their campaign with a high score and ended it in the same fashion.

Travis Head Leads Aggressive Start

Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and chose to bat first. Openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head started cautiously. Only 2 runs came from the first over bowled by Vaibhav Arora.

However, the momentum shifted quickly. In the second over, Travis Head smashed a six while Abhishek Sharma struck two boundaries off Anrich Nortje. SRH added 20 runs in that over.

Head continued the attack in the third over, hitting Arora for two sixes and a four. After 3 overs, SRH raced to 41/0.

Harshit Rana bowled the fourth over but was hit for three boundaries by Head. Their partnership crossed the 50-run mark in this over. Nortje returned for the fifth over, but Abhishek picked up two back-to-back fours.

In the sixth over, Head launched a six off Rana. SRH finished the powerplay at 79/0. Head remained unbeaten on 47 off 23 balls, while Abhishek was on 20 off 13.

Narine Breaks the Opening Stand

Sunil Narine came into the attack in the seventh over. Abhishek smashed him for two sixes but lost his wicket on the next ball, scoring 32 off 16 balls.

Heinrich Klaasen joined Head at the crease. In the next over by Varun Chakaravarthy, Head completed his fifty in 26 balls with a six. Klaasen added a six too. SRH reached 109/1 in 8 overs.

SRH Crosses 150 in 11 Overs

Narine bowled a tight ninth over, conceding 10 runs. In the tenth, Head smashed another six and Klaasen hit three fours off Chakaravarthy. After 10 overs, SRH stood at 139/1.

Russell bowled the 11th over. Head and Klaasen added 17 runs, bringing up their 50-run stand and SRH’s total to 156/1.

Klaasen Fires Rapid Fifty

Harshit Rana returned for the 12th over. Klaasen smashed a four and two sixes, reaching his half-century in just 17 balls. In the 13th over, Narine dismissed Travis Head for 76 off 40 balls. Ishan Kishan walked in. SRH were 175/2 after 13 overs.

SRH Breach 200 in 15 Overs

Vaibhav Arora conceded 12 runs in the 14th over, including a four by Ishan and four wides. Klaasen then hit back-to-back sixes off Narine in the 15th over, taking SRH past 200. After 15 overs, the score was 204/2.

Klaasen Reaches Century, SRH Posts 278

In the 16th over, Ishan hit a four and a six off Nortje. Klaasen added two sixes off Varun in the 17th over, completing a 50-run partnership with Ishan.

In the 18th over, Ishan hit a boundary before Klaasen smashed another six and a four off Russell. SRH reached 254/2.

Arora returned for the 19th over. Ishan hit a boundary but got out on the next ball for 29. Aniket Verma came in. Klaasen completed his century in 37 balls. SRH were 261/3.

In the final over, Verma hit a six and a four. Klaasen added another boundary. SRH finished with a massive 278/3. Klaasen remained unbeaten on 105 off 39 balls.

KKR Begins Chase with Aggression

Chasing 279, KKR opened with Quinton de Kock and Sunil Narine. Cummins bowled the first over. Narine hit two sixes in the over.

Unadkat gave away 7 runs in the second over. Narine continued his attack with a four and a six off Cummins in the third over. KKR reached 32/0 after 3 overs.

SRH Strike Back After Narine's Quickfire

In the fourth over, Unadkat dismissed Narine after a four. He scored 31 off 16 balls. Rahane came in next. KKR were 39/1.

Harshal Patel bowled the fifth over, conceding two boundaries to Rahane. Unadkat struck again in the sixth over, removing Rahane for 15. Raghuvanshi started with a four. KKR were 59/2 after 6 overs.

Middle-Order Collapse Hurts KKR

Eshan Malinga dismissed de Kock in the seventh over. Rinku Singh came in. Harsh Dubey turned the game in the eighth over by dismissing Rinku and Russell in consecutive deliveries. KKR were reduced to 70/5.

Manish Pandey joined Raghuvanshi. Nitish Reddy and Dubey kept things tight in the 9th and 10th overs. KKR reached 81/5 at the halfway stage.

Abhishek Sharma gave away 7 runs in the 11th over. Dubey bowled the 12th over and conceded 7 again. Malinga returned in the 13th over and dismissed Raghuvanshi for 14. Ramandeep Singh joined the chase.

In the 14th over, Ramandeep hit two sixes but fell on the fourth ball to Dubey. Harshit Rana walked in. KKR were 111/7.

Rana and Pandey Entertain Late

Rana hit a four and two sixes in Abhishek’s over. KKR reached 130/7 after 15 overs. In the 16th, Pandey hit three sixes off Malinga. KKR crossed 150.

In the 17th, Rana hit a six while Pandey took a double to bring up their 50-run stand.

SRH Wrap Up Big Win

Unadkat returned in the 18th and removed Pandey for 37. Vaibhav Arora got run out without scoring. Anrich Nortje came in.

In the 19th over, Malinga dismissed Harshit Rana for 34. KKR were bowled out for 163. Sunrisers Hyderabad won by 115 runs. Klaasen starred with a stunning century, and SRH bowlers backed it up with timely breakthroughs.

Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma gave Sunrisers Hyderabad a flying start. Abhishek got out early, but Travis Head continued his assault. Heinrich Klaasen, who joined Travis after Abhishek’s dismissal, was in a different mood. He played a quick-fire knock and reached his century in just 37 balls. Ishan Kishan played a supporting role and built an important partnership with Klaasen. Sunrisers Hyderabad set a mountainous target for KKR to chase.

Sunil Narine gave KKR a flying start, but their joy lasted only a few moments. After the powerplay, KKR's batting began to crumble. Manish Pandey and Harshit Rana showed some resistance, but the target was too high. KKR ran out of both wickets and balls. In the end, KKR were bowled out for 168 and lost the match.
