Prime Minister Modi inaugurated a new electric locomotive plant in Dahod, launched major development projects, and held a vibrant roadshow in Vadodara during his Gujarat visit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a new Locomotive Manufacturing plant in Dahod, Gujarat on Monday. This move marks a major step forward in improving India’s railway infrastructure and boosting freight capacity. Additionally, he flagged off the first electric locomotive produced at the plant. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel accompanied him during the event.

Modern Locomotives to Boost Freight and Save Energy

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the plant will manufacture 9,000 horsepower electric locomotives for both domestic use and export. Moreover, these locomotives come with regenerative braking systems and are designed to lower energy consumption. Therefore, they will not only increase freight loading capacity but also promote environmental sustainability.
