The Asia Star Entertainer Awards (ASEA) made a grand return for its second year. Initially launched by Newsen and Star1 magazine, the event brings together Asia’s biggest entertainment stars. This year, it took place at the K-Arena Yokohama in Japan on Wednesday, May 28.

As the two-day event began, artists from across Asia gathered to honour excellence in music and drama.

Jisoo Wins Major Award

Among the first day’s highlights, BLACKPINK’s Jisoo won the Best Solo (Female) award. Organisers praised her for her remarkable performance as a singer, composer, and producer.

Consequently, her fans across the globe flooded social media with praise. One fan posted, “Best Solo (Female) fits her too well. She’s beauty, she’s grace, she’s that girl.” Another commented, “I love seeing this woman succeed.” Someone else wrote, “So well deserved. CONGRATULATIONS, JISOO.” Moreover, a fan added, “Wow, Jisoo slaying as always! She deserves it!”

Other K-pop Artists Win Big

Besides Jisoo, several other K-pop stars took home major awards. aespa won three titles—Artist of the Year, Song of the Year (Supernova), and The Platinum.

Likewise, ENHYPEN received three honours: Album of the Year for ROMANCE: UNTOLD, Top Touring Artist, and The Platinum.

Furthermore, NCT Wish took home awards for Best Performance and Platinum. In addition, Lim Young Woong won the Best Solo (Male) award.

Jisoo’s Growing Solo Music Career

Earlier this year, on February 14, Jisoo released her first solo EP titled Amortage. The album includes four tracks in both Korean and English. It features a bubblegum pop style and explores different stages of love. The lead single, Earthquake, was launched alongside the EP.

Her Work in Acting

Apart from music, Jisoo also continues to grow as an actor. She starred in the romantic zombie comedy Newtopia, which aired from February 7 to March 21. In this series, she appeared alongside Park Jeong Min.

Looking ahead, she will appear in the film Omniscient Reader: The Prophet. The movie includes a star cast with Lee Min Ho, Ahn Hyo Seop, and Chae Soo Bin. It is scheduled for release sometime in 2025.
