‘I gave everything’: Jannik Sinner Holds Back Tears After Heartbreaking French Open Loss to Alcaraz
Carlos Alcaraz saved three match points and staged a stunning comeback to beat Jannik Sinner in the longest French Open final in history.

Jannik Sinner gave his all in the French Open 2025 final. He tried to hide his tears with nervous smiles. However, his shaky voice and sad eyes gave away his true feelings.

Alcaraz Turns the Match Around

At first, everything seemed to go Sinner’s way. He took the first two sets and led early in the third. He was just one point away from winning his first French Open and his third straight Grand Slam title. However, Carlos Alcaraz refused to back down. He saved three match points in the fourth set and eventually won the final in a five-set thriller.

This match became the longest French Open final in history, lasting five hours and 29 minutes.

Sinner Speaks About His Pain

After the loss, Sinner admitted, “I won’t sleep very well tonight but it’s OK.” He added, “It’s easier to play than talking now.” Despite the heartbreak, he thanked his team and said, “Even though it is very, very difficult right now, it was a great tournament.”

Sinner tried to stay positive by saying, “We try to delete it somehow and take the positive and keep going. There are no other ways.” While acknowledging the pain, he noted, “It hurts, but you cannot keep crying.”

Rivalry with Alcaraz Continues

This was Sinner’s fifth straight loss to Alcaraz, and their first Grand Slam final face-off. It also marked the first major final between two players born in the 2000s. Alcaraz now leads their rivalry 8-4. Notably, he also beat Sinner recently in Rome after the Italian returned from a three-month doping suspension.

Sinner Dominated Early

Sinner entered the final with great form. In the semifinals, he defeated Novak Djokovic in straight sets. Then, in the final, he won the first two sets against Alcaraz. He also broke Alcaraz early in the third set, but things soon changed.

Alcaraz responded by winning four straight games to lead 4-1. Although Sinner broke back at 5-3, Alcaraz immediately broke again and took the third set. This ended Sinner’s run of 31 consecutive Grand Slam sets won.

Fourth Set Full of Drama

In the fourth set, both players held serve until 3-3. Then, Sinner broke Alcaraz and moved ahead. At 5-3, he had three championship points. Still, Alcaraz fought back and saved all three. He then broke Sinner’s serve to level the set and eventually won the tie-break.

Alcaraz Seals It in the Fifth

Sinner lost his serve early in the final set. Alcaraz went up 3-1. Even though Sinner broke back while trailing 3-5 and won three games in a row, Alcaraz stayed calm. He held serve again and forced a final tie-break.

There, Alcaraz dominated. He played bold shots and kept his cool under pressure. Finally, he sealed the win with a powerful forehand, taking the tie-break 10-2.
