Consequently, the Israeli military ordered people to rush into shelters. In a post on X, it said, “Millions of Israelis are running to shelter in northern Israel due to projectile fire from Iran.”
Meanwhile, emergency service Magen David Adom reported that a two-story house was hit. One woman died and over a dozen people suffered injuries.
Shortly after, the Israeli army announced it was safe for citizens to leave the shelters.
Israel Threatens Tehran, Iran Responds
Earlier in the day, Israel claimed it had gained control of Tehran’s airspace. In a stern warning, it said, “Tehran will burn” if Iran launched more missiles.
In response, Iran hit back strongly. Its leaders promised a “more severe and powerful response.” Moreover, they threatened to strike ships and bases of countries that support Israel.
Thus, tensions reached a critical point.
UK Sends Jets to Region Amid Growing Tensions
Amid this rising conflict, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced the deployment of British military assets to the Middle East. This move came after Iran warned that any country supporting Israel could become a target.
While en route to the G7 Summit, Starmer told reporters, “I will always make the right decisions for the UK.” He further added, “We are moving assets to the region, including jets, and that is for contingency support in the region.”
In the meantime, he held talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump. Although he called for peace, Trump issued a harsh warning. He stated that Iran would be “wiped off the map” if it continued the attacks.
Israel Bombs Iran’s Nuclear Sites Again
Early Saturday, Israel announced new strikes on Tehran. Specifically, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) claimed they targeted Iran’s Defence Ministry and other locations linked to the country’s nuclear program.
According to the IDF, these targets were “related to the Iranian regime’s nuclear weapons project.” Therefore, US officials confirmed that upcoming nuclear talks with Iran would no longer happen.
Soon after the Israeli strike, Iran launched another round of missiles. Simultaneously, Israeli jets continued bombing Iran’s military and nuclear locations. Reportedly, they also killed high-ranking Iranian officials.
In a social media post, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz declared, “Tehran is burning.” Meanwhile, Iranian state TV confirmed explosions in both eastern and western parts of the capital.
World Leaders Call for Calm
As violence continued, international leaders urged restraint. For instance, China’s foreign minister said Israel’s attack on Iranian nuclear sites set a “dangerous precedent.”
Additionally, many governments pushed both nations to stop the escalation. At the same time, tensions remain high due to Israel’s long-running war with Hamas in Gaza.
Now, with another front opening against Iran, the region faces even greater danger.
