Johnny Depp Dresses as Jack Sparrow to Visit Sick Children in Madrid Hospital
Johnny Depp returned as Jack Sparrow to surprise sick children in a Madrid hospital, spreading smiles off-screen in a heartfelt gesture.

For many fans, Johnny Depp will always be remembered as Captain Jack Sparrow. While he has acted in many acclaimed and successful films, it was the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise that made him a global icon.

Recently, Johnny stepped back into his most famous role—but not for a movie. Instead, he dressed up as Jack Sparrow to surprise children at a hospital in Spain.

A Surprise Visit to a Madrid Hospital

On June 16, Johnny Depp visited Nino Jesus University Children's Hospital in Madrid, Spain. The 62-year-old actor wore his full Jack Sparrow costume and spent time with terminally ill children in their hospital rooms.

This visit took place while Depp was in Spain for the shooting of his latest film, Day Drinker, according to ANI.

Backgrid released the first pictures of Depp’s visit. Soon after, many more photos appeared on social media, showing the actor interacting warmly with the children.

Fans Applaud the Actor’s Kindness

The internet reacted with love and praise. Many fans called Johnny a "real-life hero" for this emotional gesture.

One fan wrote, “He has a heart of gold.” Others highlighted that Depp made the visit without any publicity in mind. They appreciated his “selfless act with no publicity.”

This Isn’t His First Visit

This isn’t the first time Depp has brought smiles to young patients while dressed as Jack Sparrow.

In September 2024, he visited children at Donostia University Hospital in San Sebastian, Spain, as confirmed by the hospital’s social media pages.

Over the years, Johnny Depp has appeared as Jack Sparrow in children's hospitals around the world. His past visits include cities like Vancouver, Paris, London, Brisbane (Australia), and many locations across the United States.

The Legacy of Jack Sparrow

Depp first played Captain Jack Sparrow in 2003's Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. The film also starred Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley. The character, a witty and unpredictable pirate with a hidden heart of gold, became an instant hit.

He returned to the role in four sequels: Dead Man's Chest (2006), At World's End (2007), On Stranger Tides (2011) and Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017)

A Pirate On-Screen, A Hero Off-Screen

Though Johnny Depp may not currently be filming as Jack Sparrow, his actions show the spirit of the beloved pirate lives on—not just in movies, but in real-life moments of compassion and kindness.
