Iran Urges India to Condemn Israeli Military Strikes
Iran has urged India to condemn Israeli military strikes, warning that continued conflict could impact oil flow and global trade.

Iran has called on India and other like-minded countries to condemn Israel’s military attacks. Iranian diplomat Mohammad Javad Hosseini, the Deputy Chief of Mission at Iran’s embassy in India, said such actions are clear violations of international law.

He said Iran expects India, a major voice in the Global South, to take a stand.

“We believe every country including India should condemn it (Israeli military actions), not because of their relations with Iran but because these actions are in breach of global norms,” he told reporters on Friday.

Concerns Over Pakistan’s Role

When asked about Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir’s meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington, Hosseini said Iran hopes “Pakistan would not do anything that will harm Iran’s interests.”

There have been reports that the US might consider using Pakistani military bases if it decides to carry out attacks on Iran. However, Iran has not confirmed this and has stayed cautious in its response.

Strait of Hormuz: No Direct Answer, But Warning Given

When asked if Iran might shut the Strait of Hormuz, Hosseini didn’t give a direct answer. Instead, he said Iran has several options based on how the situation develops.

“We have many things on the table, but it doesn’t mean that we are going to do it now. It depends on the situation and how the other players want to go,” he said.

He added, “If they want to solve the problem, definitely some of these things will be put aside.”

The Strait of Hormuz is a key oil route. Around 30% of global daily oil supply flows through it. Even a short disruption could severely affect oil markets, according to the International Energy Agency.

Escalation Could Hit Chabahar and Trade

Speaking about the Chabahar port project, which India and Iran jointly support, Hosseini didn’t give specific details. However, he warned that if the conflict with Israel grows, it could affect global shipping and trade.

“It is not just a matter of Chabahar, it’s a matter of the whole region. If it escalates, it will definitely affect many things, definitely the flow of oil, shipments and commodities which are going through these channels will be affected,” he said.

He urged other countries to step in and prevent further conflict.

“Because of this, those countries who will be affected, it is better for them to think and to start stopping this aggression, to avoid any kind of negative effects on the economy of the region, which will definitely spread out to the whole world,” he added.

Israel-Iran Tensions Continue to Rise

The remarks came as Israel and Iran continue to exchange missile and drone attacks, targeting both cities and military sites. The hostilities have lasted over a week and show no sign of slowing.

Iran now expects countries like India to respond diplomatically and take a stand against what it sees as “military aggression” by Israel.
