Neeraj Chopra began his 2025 season in style. He won the men’s javelin gold at the Paris Diamond League on 21 June. The event took place at Charlety Stadium. Chopra threw 88.16 meters on his very first attempt and no one could beat it.
Chopra Takes Early Lead and Keeps It
Right from the start, Neeraj Chopra made an impact. His massive opening throw gave him the lead. Throughout the event, he stayed on top. Meanwhile, Germany’s Julian Weber came close. He recorded a best throw of 87.88 meters, but he couldn’t pass Chopra. At the same time, Brazil’s Luiz da Silva surprised everyone by finishing third. He achieved a personal best of 86.62 meters.
First Major Win of the Season
This win marked Chopra’s first major victory of 2025. Earlier in May, he finished second at the Doha Diamond League. In that event, Weber had beaten him with a huge final throw. Notably, both Chopra and Weber crossed the 90-meter mark for the first time in their careers in Doha.
Chopra’s Upcoming Competitions
Next, Chopra will compete at the Golden Spike meet in Ostrava, Czechia on 24 June. Then, he will return to India. He is set to participate in the Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru on 5 July.
