At least 10 people died and many others got injured after Russia launched a fresh missile and drone attack on Kyiv. The strike hit residential buildings, hospitals, and sports facilities across Ukraine’s capital city.
Kyiv Suffers Heavy Losses
Ukraine’s Interior Minister confirmed the attack damaged several neighborhoods in Kyiv. City Mayor Vitali Klitschko said, “Six people died in a high-rise building.” The strike caused chaos in the city and left people trapped in the rubble.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched 352 drones and 16 missiles. They hit several areas, but Kyiv suffered the most damage.
Survivor Speaks Out
A 33-year-old local, Valeriy Mankuta, shared his terrifying experience with the BBC. “I woke up in the rubble,” he said after a missile hit his building. He added, “There were bricks on top of me, something in my mouth. It was absolute hell.” Mankuta escaped through a window.
Meanwhile, Russia also attacked Ukraine’s northeastern region of Sumy using drones. This strike killed three people, including one child.
No Progress in Peace Talks
Diplomatic talks between Ukraine and Russia have stalled. The last meeting happened nearly three weeks ago, and no new discussions are planned.
Zelenskyy Visits UK, Heads to NATO Summit
On Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a surprise visit to London. He met the new British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. On Tuesday, Zelenskyy is expected to attend a NATO summit in The Hague. However, his role at the event will stay limited to avoid any direct clash with US President Donald Trump.

Since returning to office, President Trump has taken a different approach. He weakened Western support for Ukraine and opened the door to closer ties with Moscow.
Russia Increases Attacks
