At least five passengers felt sick on Air India flight AI-130 from London to Mumbai on Monday. According to reports, they showed symptoms like nausea and dizziness mid-flight. A source confirmed, “Food poisoning seems to be the most likely culprit.”
Initially, reports said 11 people, including six crew members, became ill. However, Air India later clarified to HT.com that “five passengers and two crew reported feeling dizzy and nauseous during different phases of the flight.”
Some Needed Medical Help After Landing
After the flight landed in Mumbai, two passengers and two crew members still felt unwell. Air India said, “The flight landed safely in Mumbai where our medical teams were ready to provide immediate medical assistance.” Doctors later discharged all four after checking them.
Cabin Pressure Not the Cause, Say Sources
A source explained, “Cabin depressurization can cause similar symptoms, but oxygen masks did not deploy, which points to food as the issue.” According to the same source, pilots did not suffer any illness because “they get their meals after the passengers.”
Investigation Underway
Air India stated, “We are investigating the incident and have duly notified the regulator.” They also reassured that their onboard teams followed all safety protocols during the flight.
