Actor Paresh Rawal has officially confirmed that he is returning to the beloved Hera Pheri franchise. This news comes just weeks after he announced his exit from the third film.
He shared the update during a podcast interview with Himanshu Mehta. During the conversation, he also discussed the film’s reported controversy and praised his co-stars.
“There’s No Controversy,” Says Paresh
When asked about issues surrounding Hera Pheri 3, Paresh made it clear there was nothing serious. He said, “Nahi controversy kuch nahi hai (There’s no controversy).”
He explained that the film is loved by many, so the team must be cautious. According to him, “I believe that when people have loved something so much, then you have to be extra careful. It is our responsibility toward the audience.”
He also said the team must work hard to give fans what they expect. “You can’t take things for granted. Mehnat karke unko do (Work hard and give them the film),” he added.
Paresh believed that teamwork was essential. “So I was of the opinion that sab saath mein aaye, mehnat karein. Aur kuch nahin (Everyone should come together, work hard),” he said. He then confirmed, “It is all resolved now.”
He Confirms the Trio Is Back
When asked if all was now well and if fans would see the trio, Paresh responded confidently. He said the cast had always been part of the film.
“Pehle bhi aane hi waali thi (Earlier too the film was scheduled to release),” he said. However, he added that they needed time to fine-tune the team.
Laughing, he said, “After all, all of them are creative, be it Priyadarshan, Akshay or Suniel.” He also shared that they had been friends “for many, many, many years.”
His Exit Had Shocked Fans
Earlier this year, Paresh Rawal’s sudden departure upset many fans. The original trio—Akshay Kumar as Raju, Suniel Shetty as Shyam, and Paresh as Babu Bhaiya—has remained iconic since the first film.
Following his exit, reports claimed that Akshay Kumar, who is also producing Hera Pheri 3, took legal action against him. According to Bollywood Hungama, Paresh returned the signing amount along with 15% interest.
Paresh and Hera Pheri Over the Years
Paresh first played Baburao Ganpatrao Apte in Hera Pheri, which released in 2000. The sequel, Phir Hera Pheri, hit theatres in 2006. The first film was directed by Priyadarshan, who is also working on the third installment.
The original cast included Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Tabu, Om Puri, and Gulshan Grover. The second film, directed by the late Neeraj Vora, added stars like Bipasha Basu, Rimi Sen, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Sharat Saxena, and Manoj Joshi.
The Trio’s Comeback Sparks Excitement
Now that Paresh has confirmed his return, fans are excited to see the original trio back together. The Hera Pheri series remains a cult favorite, and expectations are high for the third film.
