Selena Gomez & the Scene’s ‘Who Says’ Hits Quadruple Platinum After a Decade
Selena Gomez & the Scene’s hit song "Who Says" just reached quadruple platinum, marking a major milestone more than a decade after its release.

When Selena Gomez stepped into the music world, she didn’t launch as a solo artist like many Disney stars. Instead, she formed a band called Selena Gomez & the Scene. The group was active for only a few years, but during that time, they created several popular tracks.

Now, one of their biggest songs, "Who Says," has achieved a new success years after its original release.

"Who Says" Earns Quadruple Platinum Certification

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) recently awarded "Who Says" quadruple platinum status. This means the track has sold the equivalent of four million units in the United States alone. This total includes a mix of digital sales and streaming figures, as the RIAA now counts both when issuing certifications.

The Song’s First Certification in Over a Decade

"Who Says" first received gold certification back in May 2011. Just a month later, it went platinum. Then in 2013, it achieved double and triple platinum status at the same time. Since June 2013, there had been no new certification—until now.

Over the last decade, the song quietly added another million units to its tally, earning this new recognition in 2024.

One of the Band’s Biggest Hits

With its latest achievement, "Who Says" is now tied as the group’s second-highest certified single in the U.S. It shares this spot with their track "Naturally," which also went quadruple platinum back in July 2014.

However, "Love You Like a Love Song" remains the band’s most certified track, reaching six-times platinum in July 2024.

A High Point on the Charts Too

"Who Says" came out as the lead single from Selena Gomez & the Scene’s third and final album, When the Sun Goes Down. The album became their highest-charting project on the Billboard 200, peaking at No. 3.

The song itself hit No. 21 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it their highest-ranking single on that chart to date.
