Israeli Airstrikes Rock Houthi Controlled Hodeidah and Other Yemeni Ports
Israel bombed Houthi ports after warning civilians, while a ship attack and Gaza conflict added to the growing crisis in the region.

Israel confirmed on Monday that its fighter jets had bombed several ports in Yemen controlled by the Houthi rebels. These included the key sites of Hodeidah, Ras Isa, and Salif, as reported by Reuters.

In a public statement, the Israeli military said it had "struck and destroyed terror infrastructure belonging to the Houthi terrorist regime."

Evacuation Warning Issued Before Airstrikes

Hours before the air raids, Israel asked civilians and workers to leave the targeted areas. The military feared that fighting in the region could escalate.

Spokesperson Avichay Adraee named the exact sites under threat: "Hodeidah, Ras Isa, Salif, and the Hodeidah power station are all potential targets," he warned in Arabic. The government urged people to evacuate quickly.

Ship Attacked in the Red Sea

Following the strikes, a separate attack took place in the Red Sea, near Al Hudaydah port. Armed men on small boats fired at a commercial ship using guns and rocket-propelled grenades, setting it on fire.

According to UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), the ship’s crew abandoned the vessel. A company security officer confirmed the attack, but officials did not reveal the ship’s name.

Israel Continues Its War in Gaza

While this unfolded, Israel was also continuing its military campaign against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. That war has already disrupted global shipping routes and increased tension across the region.

On Sunday, Israel sent a team of negotiators to Qatar to discuss a possible ceasefire deal. In addition, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu plans to visit the White House to speak with U.S. leaders about the proposal.
