Sophie Turner recently joked that Game of Thrones served as her unexpected sex education. Speaking on the Dish podcast, she said, “I definitely got my sex education from that show. More than enough.”
She played Sansa Stark on the HBO hit series from 2011 to 2019. The show is famous for its graphic content, and Turner admitted she learned a lot from filming those scenes.
She Grew Alongside Her Castmates
Turner also shared that she loved working on the series. She described her fellow cast members—Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Peter Dinklage, and others—as family.
“I never had proper formal training,” she said. “So I got to learn from the amazing actors around me, which I felt like I won a competition.” Over time, she felt connected to her character. “My character, I got to live with,” she added. “So it felt like we kind of merged into one person by the end of it.”
The Role Shaped Her Life and Career
According to Turner, the experience went far beyond acting. She explained, “The show informed my entire life in terms of business decisions, just etiquette on set, how to act.” She said she owes a lot to Game of Thrones and also to her parents.
She May Not Return as Sansa
Although she loved playing Sansa, Turner is unsure about returning to the role. In a 2024 interview with Variety, she said, “Maybe. I mean, it would have to be the exact same cast and the exact same crew; otherwise, I wouldn’t go back, and that would just be season nine.”
Still, she doubts the show will return. “I don’t think we’re going to do a season nine,” she stated.
She Still Thinks About Sansa’s Future
Even though the series ended years ago, Turner often wonders what Sansa would be doing today. “I do wonder often what she would be doing now. Where would she be five years later, what would she be doing?” she said.
Despite moving on, Sophie Turner’s connection to her iconic role clearly remains strong.
