US Restarts Weapon Shipments to Ukraine as Russia Escalates Strikes
The US has restarted military aid to Ukraine while Russia increases attacks on Kyiv.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that the United States has resumed military aid to Ukraine. This came as Russia increased its missile attacks on Kyiv.

Earlier, Washington had paused the shipment of defensive weapons. However, it restarted the transfer just a few days later. Zelenskyy had warned that the delay could weaken Ukraine’s ability to defend itself. As a result, he asked the US for 10 more Patriot missile systems. These systems can detect and shoot down enemy missiles. In fact, they are among the best air defence tools in the world.

Trump Explains New NATO Route for Weapons

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said the United States will now send weapons through NATO. He shared these details during a phone interview with NBC News on Thursday.

“We’re sending weapons to NATO, and NATO is paying for those weapons, 100%,” Trump said.

According to Trump, the US will give the weapons to NATO, and then NATO will deliver them to Ukraine. “So what we’re doing is the weapons that are going out are going to NATO, and then NATO is going to be giving those weapons (to Ukraine), and NATO is paying for those weapons,” he explained.

Furthermore, Trump added, “We send weapons to NATO, and NATO is going to reimburse the full cost of those weapons.”

Trump Plans Big Statement on Russia

In addition, Trump expressed his disappointment with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He strongly criticised Russia’s continued attacks on Ukraine. He also said he will make a major statement about Russia next Monday.

“I think I’ll have a major statement to make on Russia on Monday,” Trump told NBC News.

Moreover, he mentioned that the US Senate is preparing a tougher sanctions bill against Russia. But Trump made it clear that the final decision will be his. “It’s at my option if I want to use it,” he said. “They’re going to pass a very major and very biting sanctions bill, but it’s up to the president as to whether or not he wants to exercise it.”
