Wimbledon 2025: Jannik Sinner Crushes Djokovic to Reach Final
Jannik Sinner crushed Novak Djokovic in straight sets to reach the Wimbledon 2025 final, as the 38-year-old legend struggled with injury and form.

Novak Djokovic faced a harsh reality at Wimbledon on Friday. He lost to Italy’s Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals in a match that was completely one-sided. Sinner dominated from start to finish and sealed a 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 victory.

Now, the Italian will face Carlos Alcaraz in the final. Sinner is looking for payback after losing to Alcaraz in the French Open final last month.

Sinner Seeks Revenge in the Final

In that French Open match, Sinner had three match points but failed to close it out. Alcaraz came back to win. Now, Sinner has another shot at a Grand Slam title—and this time, he looks sharper than ever.

Meanwhile, Djokovic, now 38 years old, appears to be nearing the end of his career. His movement was limited, and he couldn’t match Sinner’s energy or precision.

Sinner Finishes in Style

Sinner controlled the entire match. Towards the end, he even started to play with ease and confidence. On match point, he sent Djokovic wide with a powerful shot. Djokovic returned it, but Sinner calmly hit the ball to the open court. Djokovic didn’t even attempt to move across. He stood still as Sinner celebrated a stylish win.

Djokovic Struggled Physically

Djokovic called for medical help at the end of the second set. He appeared to have a problem with his left thigh. Unlike his usual self, Djokovic lacked his trademark footwork and court coverage.

In contrast, Sinner was fast, focused, and ruthless. He made very few errors and remained in control, except for a brief moment early in the third set. Djokovic had taken a 3-0 lead, but Sinner quickly recovered and shut the door on any comeback.

Concerns Before the Match

Djokovic had already raised concerns about his fitness. He slipped during his previous match against Flavio Cobolli on Wednesday. The fall caused worries about whether he would play the semi-final at all. On Thursday, he cancelled his practice session.

Sinner, on the other hand, had luck on his side earlier in the tournament. He was trailing two sets to none against Grigor Dimitrov in the fourth round. But Dimitrov suffered an injury and had to retire, allowing Sinner to advance.

Djokovic Congratulates Sinner

After the match, Djokovic admitted he was not at his best, but gave full credit to Sinner. “Honestly, it wasn't really a pleasant feeling on the court. I don't want to talk, in details, about my injury and just whine about not managing to play my best. I want to congratulate Jannik for another great performance. That's it. He's in the finals. He was too strong.”
