Denise Richards Files Abuse Complaint Against Aaron Phypers, Cites Years of Violence
Denise Richards accused Aaron Phypers of years of physical abuse and threats, prompting a restraining order ahead of their court hearing in August.

Actress Denise Richards has filed a complaint against her estranged husband, Aaron Phypers, accusing him of long-term abuse. She secured a temporary domestic violence restraining order from the court on Wednesday. As per People magazine, her report includes detailed descriptions of physical assault and supporting photos.

Richards Details Multiple Assaults

According to her court filing, Richards claimed Phypers repeatedly choked her, slapped her face and head, and squeezed her arms and skull aggressively. She stated he pushed her head into a towel rack and once pinned her down with his knee. She reportedly told the court she had to plead with him to let her go.

Richards also accused him of accessing her devices and copying her text messages without consent. She said he often threatened to break her jaw and then cried, begged her to stay, and promised to seek help—promises he never kept.

She Alleges Threats and Fear

Throughout the marriage, Richards said Phypers had threatened to kill her, himself, and even the police. She alleged that he owned at least eight unregistered guns, adding to her fears.

Richards revealed she felt afraid to speak out earlier. She believed he would harm her or himself if she reported him. She also said he warned her she would “disappear” if she contacted law enforcement.

July 4 Incident Triggered Legal Action

Richards described a recent confrontation on July 4 that led her to seek court protection. She said Phypers came very close to her face and yelled profanities. Then, he allegedly grabbed her arms, pushed her, and dragged her down stairs, causing her serious pain.

Divorce Filing and Career Impact

Phypers filed for divorce on July 7, citing irreconcilable differences after six years of marriage. Days later, news emerged that Richards' reality show Denise Richards & Her Wild Things would not continue.

Phypers Denies All Claims

After the allegations became public, Phypers issued a public statement through People. He said he never abused Richards physically or emotionally. He called the accusations “false and deeply hurtful” and claimed he had always treated their marriage with patience and respect. Phypers requested privacy as the matter unfolds.

The court has scheduled the next hearing on August 8, where both Richards and Phypers are expected to present their sides regarding the restraining order.
