India Edge England by 13 Runs to Win ODI Series Decider
Harmanpreet Kaur’s century and Kranti Goud’s six-wicket haul powered India Women to a thrilling 13-run win over England, sealing the ODI series 2-1.

India Women edged past England Women by 13 runs in the final match of the ODI series at Durham. With this victory, India also sealed the three-match series 2-1.

Powered by Harmanpreet Kaur’s brilliant century, Jemimah Rodrigues’ blazing half-century, and valuable contributions from Smriti Mandhana and Harleen Deol, India posted a massive total for England to chase.

In response, England Women fought hard but fell short by 13 runs, largely due to a match-winning spell from Kranti Goud, who took 6 for 52 in 9.5 overs. Nat Sciver-Brunt also played a crucial knock but narrowly missed her century, falling for 98.

Harmanpreet Powers India to Big Total

Harmanpreet Kaur scored 102 runs from 84 balls, guiding India to a challenging total of 318 runs. England, needing to chase a world-record target to win, struggled despite a strong partnership in the middle overs. Harmanpreet’s knock also helped her become the third Indian woman to surpass 4000 ODI runs. This century ended her poor form in the format, as she crossed fifty for the first time in 13 innings.

She shared a 110-run partnership with Jemimah Rodrigues, who contributed a valuable half-century. Smriti Mandhana and Harleen Deol also chipped in with 45 runs each. Towards the end, Richa Ghosh played a rapid innings, remaining unbeaten on 38 from just 18 balls.

Rodrigues attacked spinner Charlie Dean effectively, hitting boundaries all around the ground. Harmanpreet too scored freely, hitting several boundaries and bringing up her seventh ODI hundred with a push through mid-off. However, England missed a chance to dismiss her early when they chose not to review an LBW decision, which replays showed would have been out.

Harmanpreet finally fell to a sharp catch from Nat Sciver-Brunt after scoring her century. Sophie Ecclestone was England’s best bowler, conceding just 28 runs in her 10 overs and taking one wicket.

England Fights Back Before Collapse

Chasing 319, England suffered early setbacks as Kranti Goud dismissed both openers quickly. Tammy Beaumont was bowled by a delivery that cut back sharply, while Amy Jones was caught brilliantly by Deepti Sharma. England were reduced to 22 for 2 by the end of the powerplay.

However, Nat Sciver-Brunt and Emma Lamb revived the innings with a 162-run stand. Lamb scored 68 before being bowled by Shree Charani, while Sciver-Brunt fell just two runs short of a century after being caught behind off Deepti Sharma.

Sciver-Brunt’s dismissal marked a turning point. Although umpire Jacqueline Williams initially rejected the appeal, Deepti Sharma convinced Harmanpreet to go for a review, which confirmed the ball had brushed Sciver-Brunt’s glove before being caught by Ghosh.

After their partnership ended, England lost wickets regularly. Sophia Dunkley was run out following a mix-up with Alice Davidson-Richards. Rodrigues took two sharp catches near the boundary to dismiss Dean and Ecclestone. Goud then claimed two wickets in two balls, removing Davidson-Richards and Filer to complete her five-wicket haul. She added a sixth by dismissing Lauren Bell, caught by Harmanpreet.
