Tim Seifert’s unbeaten 66 powered New Zealand to a dominant 7-wicket win over South Africa in the fifth T20I of the Tri-Nation Series.
New Zealand crushed South Africa by 7 wickets with 25 balls to spare in the fifth T20I of the Tri-Nation Series at Harare. South Africa managed to post a respectable total, thanks to the efforts of Reeza Hendricks (41) and George Linde (23*). Adam Milne (2/21 in 4 overs), Mitchell Santner (2/24 in 4 overs), and Jacob Duffy (2/33 in 4 overs) kept the South African batsmen quiet by taking wickets at regular intervals. In reply, New Zealand lost Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra in quick succession, but a blazing knock by Tim Seifert made the chase look easy.

South Africa Loses Early Wickets

New Zealand won the toss and chose to bowl first. Their bowlers kept South Africa under pressure right from the start. Adam Milne struck early by dismissing Rassie van der Dussen in the 3rd over. He scored just 14 runs. Soon after, Rubin Hermann was run out in the 7th over for only 10 runs. Although Reeza Hendricks struggled, he kept rotating the strike and tried to hold the innings together.

However, South Africa lost Pretorius and Brevis in quick succession. At the halfway stage, they were in trouble at 57/4 after 10.4 overs.

Hendricks and Linde Try to Revive Innings

Andile Simelane joined Hendricks and tried to steady the innings with some quick runs. But Mitchell Santner dismissed Simelane in the 15th over. After his dismissal, George Linde joined Hendricks, and the pair added some vital runs.

Just as South Africa looked to stabilise, Jacob Duffy turned the match by taking two wickets in two balls during the 17th over. Despite these setbacks, George Linde managed to push the score further with a few boundaries. He stayed unbeaten on 23 runs from 15 balls, helping South Africa reach 134/8 in 20 overs.

New Zealand Bowlers Dominate

Throughout the innings, New Zealand’s bowlers dominated. Milne, Santner, and Duffy consistently took wickets and restricted South Africa from scoring freely.

New Zealand Makes Strong Start in Chase

Chasing 135 runs, Devon Conway and Tim Seifert gave New Zealand a flying start. They completed a 50-run stand quickly. However, Simelane broke the partnership by dismissing Conway in the 6th over.

In the next over, Senuran Muthusamy sent back Rachin Ravindra, who scored only 3 runs off 5 balls. Mark Chapman joined Seifert at the crease.
