Delhi Police arrested a 41-year-old man for a serious terror attack. The accused, Karanvir Singh from Kapurthala, has ties to the banned terror outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).
Earlier this year, he allegedly took part in a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) attack on a police station.
Attack on Police Station in Punjab
The incident happened on April 7. According to officials, Singh targeted the Qila Lal Singh Wala police station in Batala, Punjab.
Soon after the attack, he reportedly fled to Pakistan.
Interpol Issued Global Notice
In 2023, India requested Interpol to issue a Red Corner Notice against Singh. As a result, Interpol flagged him internationally.
He now faces several charges, including murder, criminal conspiracy, and funding terrorism. In addition, he violated laws related to weapons and explosives.
Terror Group Claimed the Attack
Confirming the arrest, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Amit Kaushik said, “BKI claimed responsibility for the Batala attack and also threatened a similar strike in Delhi.”
Therefore, authorities believe Singh played a major role in both the attack and the planning of future threats.
Case Moves to NIA
Consequently, officials have handed the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The agency will now lead the investigation.
