Dulquer Salmaan surprised his fans with a special treat. On July 29, his 42nd birthday, he released the teaser of his upcoming film Kaantha. The film is a Tamil and Telugu bilingual.
A Powerful Teaser With Emotional Depth
The teaser runs for two minutes and twelve seconds. It introduces a complex story about a broken relationship between a father and a son. Samuthirakani plays the father, while Dulquer plays his son. Right from the start, the teaser captures attention. It begins with a studio announcement for a film called Saantha, which is shown as the first Tamil horror film.
A Story Within a Story
The plot of Kaantha unfolds within the world of filmmaking. Samuthirakani plays a director. Dulquer plays a superstar. The father trains his son from a young age to become a film hero.
However, things soon take a dark turn. As the teaser shows, the father and son grow apart. Tension rises. At one point, Samuthirakani even chokes Dulquer and throws chairs at him.
Real-Life Emotions Meet Reel-Life Horror
Interestingly, Saantha, the film inside Kaantha, mirrors the characters' personal lives. As Dulquer acts in the fictional horror movie, his real-life relationship with his father crumbles. This contrast adds intensity to the teaser. It also blurs the line between fiction and reality in the story.
Talented Cast and Crew
Selvamani Selvaraj directs the film. Dulquer and Rana Daggubati co-produce it under Wayfarer Films and Spirit Media. Jhanu Chanthar composed the music. Besides Dulquer and Samuthirakani, actress Bhagyashri Borse also plays a key role. However, her character is still under wraps. The film is set to hit theatres on September 12, 2025. It will release in both Tamil and Telugu languages.
Dulquer’s Career Continues to Rise
Earlier, Dulquer impressed fans with Lucky Bhaskar, which performed well at the box office in 2024. Now, with Kaantha, he explores deeper emotional themes and takes on a more complex role. As an actor and producer, he continues to choose bold and challenging projects.
