Prime Minister Narendra Modi firmly dismissed US President Donald Trump’s statement that he played a role in brokering peace between India and Pakistan. Speaking in the Lok Sabha during a debate on Operation Sindoor, Modi said, "No leader in the world asked India to stop military action." His comment directly countered Trump’s repeated assertions about his involvement in defusing tensions between the two countries.
Modi Recalls Phone Call from U.S. Vice-President
PM Modi shared details of a key phone call he received on the night of May 9. He said that U.S. Vice-President J.D. Vance had tried to contact him for over an hour. "Vance tried to contact me for an hour, but I was in a meeting with the army. I could not pick the call," Modi explained.
Once he returned the call, Vance warned him that Pakistan was planning a serious attack. Modi responded firmly. "My answer was: If this is Pakistan's intention, it will pay a heavy price," he said.
India’s Stern Warning
Modi underlined the seriousness of India's response to the threat. He said, "I further said, 'Hum goli ka jawab gole se denge' (We will respond to bullets with missiles)." This, he added, sent a clear message to Pakistan about India’s stance on cross-border terrorism.

Pahalgam Attack Avenged Swiftly
The Prime Minister also highlighted the swift military action taken after the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. He said that India’s armed forces carried out a counter-strike in just 22 minutes. "Pakistan could not do anything. Our armed forces avenged 22nd April within 22 minutes with precision attacks," Modi stated.
Salute to Armed Forces
Modi praised the bravery and efficiency of the Indian military. He said the armed forces succeeded in hitting targets that were considered extremely difficult to reach. “Our armed forces reached and destroyed ‘impenetrable’ targets for the first time,” he said with pride.
