Weather experts believe the tornado was caused by a rare triple sea breeze collision. This unusual weather event triggered a tornado warning for Orlando and parts of eastern St. Cloud.
Flights grounded at Orlando Airport
As the storm intensified, Orlando International Airport took emergency action. Officials stopped all flight operations, putting a full ground stop in place to ensure passenger safety.
At the time, the National Weather Service had issued a severe thunderstorm warning that remained active until 7:45 PM EDT. The warning specifically highlighted Orange and Osceola counties as the areas most at risk.
Authorities warn of danger to life and property
Local officials and meteorologists quickly issued alerts, warning of a “significant threat to property or life.”
