Gina Carano Settles Lawsuit Against Lucasfilm and Disney
Actor Gina Carano has settled her lawsuit against Lucasfilm and Disney after claiming she was wrongfully fired from “The Mandalorian” over her social media views.

Actor Gina Carano has settled her federal lawsuit against Lucasfilm and its parent company, The Walt Disney Company. She claimed she was fired from the popular show “The Mandalorian” in 2021 because of her right-wing social media posts.

Settlement Details Remain Private

The exact terms of the agreement have not been made public. Lucasfilm said in a statement, “Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars, and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect.” They also added, “With this lawsuit concluded, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future.”

Lawsuit Dismissed With Prejudice

On Thursday, both sides filed a request in federal court to dismiss the case with prejudice. This means Carano cannot file the lawsuit again. A judge still needs to officially approve the dismissal. The trial had been set to begin in Los Angeles in February next year.

Claims of Unfair Firing

Carano’s lawsuit, filed last year in California, said she was wrongfully fired after two seasons on “The Mandalorian.” This happened after she posted a message comparing the treatment of American conservatives to how Jews were treated under the Nazis. Her post received strong criticism online and sparked the trending hashtag #FireGinaCarano.

Carano Thanks Supporters and Elon Musk

In a statement, Carano said, “I’d like to thank you all for your unrelenting support throughout my life and career, you’ve been the heartbeat that has kept my story alive. I hope to make you proud.” She also said, “I am excited to flip the page and move onto the next chapter. My desires remain in the arts, which is where I hope you will join me.”

Carano also thanked Elon Musk for helping fund her lawsuit “and asking for nothing in return.” The lawsuit said the 43-year-old actress was fired because she “dared voice her own opinions” against “an online bully mob who demanded her compliance with their extreme progressive ideology.”

Carano’s Role and Past Controversies

Carano, a former mixed martial artist, played Cara Dune on “The Mandalorian.” The show started in 2019 and ran for three seasons. A new movie called “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” starring Pedro Pascal and Sigourney Weaver, is planned for release next summer.

Carano previously faced backlash for mocking mask-wearing during the COVID-19 pandemic and making false claims about voter fraud in the 2020 US presidential election.
