United States Praises Pakistan for Fighting Terrorism
The United States praised Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism and designated the Baloch Liberation Army and Majeed Brigade as foreign terrorist groups.

The United States has praised Pakistan for its ongoing efforts to control terrorist groups both in the region and worldwide. It also expressed sympathy for the families of civilians and law enforcement officers who died in terrorist attacks in Pakistan. These include the brutal attack on the Jaffar Express train and the bombing of a school bus in Khuzdar, the statement added.

Baloch Liberation Army and Majeed Brigade Declared Terror Groups

This statement came a day after the U.S. officially declared the Pakistani separatist group Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and its alias, The Majeed Brigade, as foreign terrorist organizations.

The BLA, which both the U.S. and Pakistan label as a terrorist group, has fought an ongoing insurgency against the Pakistani government for decades. The group aims to gain independence for Pakistan’s resource-rich Balochistan province.

The U.S. had already designated BLA as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) in 2019 following several attacks. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a press release, "Since 2019, BLA has claimed responsibility for additional attacks, including by the Majeed Brigade."

Pakistan Army Chief Visits Washington

On Sunday, Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir visited Washington for the second time since the recent four-day conflict with India. During his visit, he met with top U.S. political and military officials.

According to the statement, Munir held important discussions with senior U.S. political and military leaders. He also interacted with members of the Pakistani community living in the U.S.
