PM Modi Wishes Nation on Independence Day, Calls for Hard Work to Build ‘Viksit Bharat’
PM Narendra Modi wished the nation on Independence Day and urged people to work harder to make India developed by 2047.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the nation on Independence Day on Friday. In his message on X, he wrote, “Wishing everyone a very happy Independence Day. May this day inspire us to keep working even harder to realise the dreams of our freedom fighters and build a Viksit Bharat. Jai Hind!”

Later in the day, he will hoist the national flag at the Red Fort in Delhi. This will mark his 12th consecutive address from the historic site.

Celebrations Across the Country

Across India, the tricolour is already everywhere. In markets, shops, and streets, saffron, white, and green dominate clothes, decorations, and accessories. This year, the celebrations follow the theme Naya Bharat. Moreover, it highlights the government’s aim to make India a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047.

Security Tightened in Delhi

Meanwhile, security in the national capital is on high alert. Authorities have implemented a multi-layered plan involving Delhi Police, paramilitary forces, the NSG, SPG, Military Intelligence, and other agencies. In total, they have deployed over 20,000 security personnel.

In addition, officials have installed advanced Artificial Intelligence systems. These include facial recognition linked to a database of three lakh suspects, anti-intrusion cameras, people-count cameras, and abandoned object detection. Furthermore, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) will scan vehicles to detect suspicious activity.

Key Events at the Red Fort

After PM Modi’s speech, NCC cadets and My Bharat volunteers will sing the National Anthem. Additionally, about 2,500 cadets from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with volunteers, will sit on Gyanpath. Together, they will form the Naya Bharat logo.

This year, nearly 5,000 special guests will attend the ceremony. They include:

  • The Indian team for the 2025 Special Olympics.

  • Medal winners from international sports events.

  • Khelo India Para Games gold medallists.

  • Farmers trained under the National Beekeeping and Honey Mission.

  • Leading farmer cooperatives.

  • Village heads from the Open Defecation Free Plus and Catch the Rain campaigns.

  • Young authors under PM-YUVA.

  • Skilled youth from PM-VIKAS.

  • Entrepreneurs from the PM Van Dhan Yojana and the SC/ST Hub.

  • Top students from PM-DAKSH, SHREYAS, and SHRESTA programmes.

  • Successful Self Help Groups under VISVAS.

  • Beneficiaries of PM Awaas Yojana Gramin.

Har Ghar Tiranga Inspires Patriotism

In the lead-up to Independence Day, the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign once again boosted patriotic spirit. As a result, people across the country joined Tiranga Yatras.

On August 11, the Ministry of Culture launched the fourth edition of the campaign as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. It urges citizens to bring the national flag into their homes and hearts.

This year, the initiative rolled out in phases to ensure nationwide participation. Finally, the celebrations will conclude on August 15, when the Tiranga will fly proudly in homes, public spaces, and institutions across India.
