Prime Minister Narendra Modi rode a bullet train with his Japanese counterpart Shigeru Ishiba on the second day of his Japan visit on Saturday. The two leaders were on their way to Sendai city.
During the journey, Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba posted pictures on his X (formerly Twitter) account. He wrote, “With Prime Minister Modi to Sendai. Continuing from last night, I will be with you in the car.”

Modi meets Indian train drivers in Japan
Several Indian train drivers, who are receiving training with East Japan Railway Company, greeted PM Modi at the station. Modi interacted with them, encouraged their efforts, and also posed for photographs.
Interaction with Japanese governors
Earlier in Tokyo, PM Modi held discussions with governors of sixteen Japanese prefectures. According to Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, PM Modi “highlighted the potential of states-prefectures collaboration and in this regard urged action under the State-Prefecture Partnership Initiative launched during 15th India-Japan Annual Summit for shared progress.”
Modi stresses importance of state-prefecture ties
Sharing pictures from the meeting, Modi said, “State-prefecture cooperation is a vital pillar of India-Japan friendship. This is also why a separate initiative on it was launched during the 15th Annual India-Japan Summit yesterday.”

He added that India and Japan can work together in many areas. “There is immense scope to cooperate in areas like trade, innovation, entrepreneurship and more. Futuristic sectors like Startups, tech and AI too can be beneficial," Modi said.
