South Korea thrashed Bangladesh 5–1 in Rajgir, producing a strong comeback after conceding early to storm into the Super 4 of the Hero Men’s Asia Cup 2025.
Korea defeated Bangladesh 5–1 in an important Pool B clash of the Hero Men’s Asia Cup 2025 in Rajgir, India. South Korea staged a powerful comeback after conceding an early goal. With this win, Korea marched into the Super 4 round.

Early Drama as Bangladesh Strikes First

The match at Bihar Sports University Hockey Stadium opened with a surprise. Bangladesh stunned both the Korean team and the home crowd by scoring first. Rahman Khorshadur converted a penalty corner in the 6th minute, putting his side ahead 1–0.

But South Korea, a powerhouse in Asian hockey, wasted no time in fighting back. Just seven minutes later, Hwang Taeil leveled the score with a precise penalty corner in the 13th minute. By the 18th minute, Jang Jonghyun added another from a penalty corner, giving Korea a 2–1 advantage by the end of the first quarter.

Korea Takes Control

The momentum firmly shifted in the second quarter. Hwang Taeil struck again, this time with a well-placed field goal in the 22nd minute, stretching the lead to 3–1.

The third quarter saw more dominance from the Korean side. Lee Nam Yong netted a clean field goal in the 32nd minute, extending the score to 4–1. Bangladesh’s defense looked unsettled as Korea kept applying relentless pressure.

Finishing Strong

Korea’s clinical finishing continued into the fourth quarter. In the 44th minute, Yang Jihun delivered a sharp penalty corner strike, sealing the scoreline at 5–1. From then on, Bangladesh struggled to mount any comeback as Korea controlled possession and tempo until the final whistle.

What the Victory Means

This convincing win highlights South Korea’s strength in set-pieces, especially penalty corners, and their ability to recover quickly under pressure. With five goals from four different scorers, the team showed both depth and sharp attacking instincts.

Bangladesh, despite a promising start, could not hold their ground against Korea’s speed, structure, and finishing power. Their defense collapsed under sustained pressure, leaving them to regroup for their next challenge in Pool B.

For Korea, this result boosts their confidence as they aim for a top spot in the group stage and progress strongly in the Asia Cup 2025.
