The Dead Dance: Gaga’s Dark Song for Wednesday Season Two
Lady Gaga released The Dead Dance, a haunting track for Wednesday season two, while also joining the cast as a mysterious Nevermore Academy teacher.

Lady Gaga has officially released her new single, The Dead Dance, written for the second season of Tim Burton’s hit Netflix Gothic drama Wednesday. The track, which carries a dark and thrilling vibe similar to Michael Jackson’s iconic Thriller, marks a special collaboration between the pop superstar and the legendary filmmaker.

A Dark and Haunting Song

Gaga’s song opens with chilling lyrics over a pulsating beat. She sings, “When you killed me inside, that’s when I came alive.” The track continues with the eerie line, “You’ve created a creature of the night/ Now I’m haunting your air, your soul, your eyes.”

Theatrical and haunting, the song perfectly matches the show’s Gothic atmosphere. Reports suggest that Burton has also directed a dramatic music video for the single, which is expected to be released soon.

Gaga’s Exciting Cameo

Adding to the excitement, Gaga will make a special guest appearance in the new season. She will play Rosaline Rotwood, a mysterious and iconic teacher at Nevermore Academy. Rosaline’s dark past will connect deeply with Wednesday Addams, played by Jenna Ortega, adding intrigue to the storyline.

Gaga expressed her excitement during Spotify and Netflix’s Wednesday Graveyard Gala in New York City last week. She told the crowd,

“I had a wonderful time working on Wednesday season two, even just being a small part of the show. I loved working with Tim Burton and Jenna [Ortega] and everyone here, it’s so incredible. Thank you. I’m also here to confirm my song The Dead Dance is coming.”

Behind the Song

According to Variety, Gaga co-wrote The Dead Dance with her long-time collaborators Andrew Watt and Cirkut, known collectively as Mayhem. The track blends her signature dramatic style with a spooky, cinematic sound designed to match the world of Wednesday.

To fuel the mystery surrounding her character, Gaga and Burton were recently seen filming on Mexico’s Island of the Dolls, a location infamous for its eerie display of tattered dolls and ghostly legends.

Burton praised Gaga’s artistry, saying, “She’s such an artist… working with her is endlessly inspiring.”

Gaga on Keeping Secrets

Earlier this year, Gaga spoke to Entertainment Weekly about joining the cast. She kept details tightly under wraps, saying,

“I don’t want to give away anything about being part of the show. I want to keep it extra secret – but I love Jenna and I really had an amazing time!”

Her appearance follows the viral dance craze from the show’s first season, which used Gaga’s 2011 hit Bloody Mary. The trend swept across TikTok and social media, cementing her connection to the series even before this official collaboration.
