US President Donald Trump will host a high-profile dinner at the White House on Thursday night, bringing together some of the world’s most influential tech leaders.
The guest list includes at least five Indian-origin CEOs, reflecting their growing influence in the global tech industry.
Those attending are Sundar Pichai of Google, Satya Nadella of Microsoft, Sanjay Mehrotra of Micron, Vivek Ranadive, chairman of TIBCO Software, and Shyam Sankar, a top executive at Palantir.
Big Names from Global Tech Industry
The White House revealed an extensive list of attendees beyond the Indian-origin leaders.
Prominent names include Bill Gates, Microsoft co-founder, Tim Cook of Apple, and Mark Zuckerberg of Meta.
The dinner will also host Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google, Sam Altman and Greg Brockman of OpenAI, Safra Catz of Oracle, David Limp of Blue Origin, Alexandr Wang of Scale AI, and Jared Isaacman of Shift4 Payments.
This gathering will bring together leaders from companies shaping the future of artificial intelligence, space exploration, and advanced technology.
The Rose Garden Makeover
The dinner will take place in the Rose Garden, which recently underwent a redesign to accommodate outdoor dining.
The new setup features tables, chairs, and umbrellas that closely resemble the style of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club in Florida.
White House spokesman Davis Ingle described the venue as a premier location for such events.
“The Rose Garden Club at the White House is the hottest place to be in Washington, or perhaps the world. The President looks forward to welcoming top business, political, and tech leaders for this dinner and the many dinners to come on the new, beautiful Rose Garden patio,” Ingle said in a statement.
AI Task Force Meeting Before Dinner
Before the dinner, the White House will host a meeting for its new Artificial Intelligence Education Task Force.
The task force aims to develop programs to teach AI skills to American youth, preparing them for future careers in technology.
First Lady Melania Trump will lead the session at the State Dining Room. Some of the dinner guests are also expected to take part in the meeting, linking policy discussions with industry expertise.
Elon Musk Missing from Guest List
One surprising absence is Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX. Musk was once considered a close ally of Trump and was appointed to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a body focused on streamlining government operations.
However, their relationship soured in late May. According to reports, the fallout was linked to several issues, including Trump’s decision to cancel Jared Isaacman’s nomination as NASA chief.
Despite this, the White House confirmed that Isaacman will attend Thursday’s dinner.
Rift Over NASA Nomination
Isaacman, a businessman and Musk associate, had been Trump’s choice to lead NASA. But Trump revoked the nomination around the time of his public breakup with Musk.
Trump later explained that Musk’s anger partly stemmed from this reversal.
He also took a swipe at Isaacman, saying, "totally a Democrat," to explain his reasoning for blocking the appointment.
A Night of Tech and Politics
The exclusive dinner is expected to be a major networking event, bringing together tech visionaries and policymakers.
It also signals Trump’s effort to align his administration with the rapidly evolving tech industry, especially in artificial intelligence and space exploration.
While Musk’s absence highlights tensions, the attendance of other top CEOs shows the strong interest in shaping the next phase of US tech policy.
