India Crowned Asia Cup Champions, Books World Cup Berth
India defeated Korea 4-1 in the final to win their fourth Asia Cup title and secure direct qualification for the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026.

India claimed the Hero Men's Asia Cup 2025 by defeating defending champions Korea 4-1 in the final at the Bihar Sports University Hockey Stadium in Rajgir on Sunday, September 7. This triumph gave India its fourth Asia Cup title and a direct entry into the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026.

India Takes Early Lead

India started strong, scoring in the opening minute. Sukhjeet Singh netted the first goal after a sharp assist from Harmanpreet Singh. Before halftime, Dilpreet Singh doubled the lead with a precise shot into the bottom right corner.

Extending the Advantage

In the third quarter, Dilpreet struck again in the 45th minute, making it 3-0 for India. Later, Amit Rohidas converted a penalty corner in the final quarter to seal the win.

Although Jugraj Singh missed a penalty stroke, India maintained constant pressure throughout the match. Their clinical attack and solid defense kept Korea on the back foot.

Standout Performers

Dilpreet Singh was named Best Player of the Tournament for his outstanding performance, scoring two crucial goals in the final. Akhimullah Anuar from Malaysia finished as the tournament’s top scorer with 12 goals.

Looking Ahead

With this victory, India has booked its place in the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026, which will take place in Belgium and the Netherlands. The team will now focus on maintaining this form as they prepare for the global challenge ahead.
