Korea delivered a commanding performance to defeat Malaysia 5–0 in their final Pool A match at the Women’s Hockey Asia Cup 2025 in Hangzhou, China. This emphatic win secured Korea the top spot in their group and confirmed their place in the Super 4s.

Korea Starts Strong

Right from the first whistle, Korea dominated the game. They struck in the opening minute when Kim Y-j scored, immediately putting Malaysia on the back foot. The early breakthrough set the tone for the rest of the match.

As the second quarter began, Korea continued to attack relentlessly. Cho doubled the lead with a goal in the second minute, and just minutes later, Kim Y-j struck again in the 24th minute to make it 3–0. By halftime, Korea had complete control of the match, leaving Malaysia struggling to respond.

After the break, Korea showed no signs of slowing down. Park Seung-a scored twice in quick succession in the 26th and 28th minutes, while Park Yeong-e added another in the 29th minute. Their aggressive play and precise finishing extended the lead to 5–0, sealing Malaysia’s fate.

In the final quarter, Korea shifted focus to maintaining their strong defensive structure. They denied Malaysia any real scoring chances, ensuring a clean sheet and a dominant victory.

Standout Performances

Kim Y-j played a key role, opening the scoring and adding another crucial goal in the second quarter. Cho contributed with an early strike, while Park Seung-a’s back-to-back goals highlighted her clinical finishing. Park Yeong-e’s quick goal just before halftime showcased Korea’s attacking depth.

Path to the Super 4s

With this victory, Korea remained unbeaten in Pool A, following earlier wins over Chinese Taipei and a draw against China. Their top finish secured a spot in the Super 4s, where they will face the India and Japan from Pool B.
