Tesla CEO Elon Musk addressed a far-right rally in London via video link. During the event, he called for a “dissolution of parliament” and a “change of government”. The rally was organized by far-right activist Tommy Robinson, also known as Stephen Yaxley-Lennon. Meanwhile, police clashed with some protesters, leading to violent confrontations.
Furthermore, Musk criticized the “woke mind virus”. He warned the crowd: “Violence is coming. You either fight back or you die.” He also said, “I really think that there’s got to be a change of government in Britain. You can’t – we don’t have another four years, or whenever the next election is, it’s too long. Something’s got to be done. There’s got to be a dissolution of parliament and a new vote held.”
Earlier this year, Musk had clashed with the British government over grooming gangs. In addition, he criticized the 2023 Online Safety Act, calling it a threat to free speech.
Rift With Nigel Farage
Musk has a close relationship with far-right leader Nigel Farage. At first, he reportedly considered donations to Farage’s party, Reform UK. However, he later called for Farage to be replaced after Farage supported Robinson.
Appeal to Ordinary Citizens
At the rally, Musk appealed to Britain’s “reasonable centre”. He explained, “My appeal is to British common sense, which is to look carefully around you and say: ‘If this continues, what world will you be living in?’”
Moreover, he addressed ordinary citizens who usually avoid politics. “They just want to live their lives. They’re quiet, they just go about their business. If this continues, violence is going to come to you. You have no choice. You either fight back or you die,” Musk said.
Criticism of the Left
Musk accused the left of supporting violence. Specifically, he referred to the killing of American right-wing activist Charlie Kirk. “The left is the party of murder and celebrating murder. Let that sink in for a minute, that’s who we’re dealing with,” he said.
Additionally, he slammed the “woke mind virus”, insisting that decisions should be based on merit rather than race, religion, or sex. “A lot of the woke stuff is actually super-racist, it’s super-sexist, and often anti-religion—but only anti-Christian. That’s unfair. The woke mind virus, that I call it, is against all that,” Musk added.
Massive Rally and Other Speakers
The rally drew over 110,000 participants. At the same time, around 5,000 anti-racist counter-protesters marched in opposition. Besides Musk, speakers included Katie Hopkins and French far-right politician Éric Zemmour.
Overall, Musk’s speech and the rally’s size highlight the growing influence of far-right politics in the UK. Consequently, high-profile figures like Musk continue to shape local political debates.
