PM Modi Thanks Putin for Birthday Wishes, Vows to Deepen India-Russia Ties
Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for his birthday wishes and pledged to strengthen India-Russia ties while supporting peaceful solutions to global conflicts.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for his warm birthday wishes and promised to continue working to strengthen India-Russia relations.

Modi Expresses Gratitude to Putin

In a post on X, PM Modi said President Putin’s gesture highlighted the close bond between the two nations.

“Thank you, my friend, President Putin, for your phone call and warm wishes on my 75th birthday. We are committed to further strengthening our Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership. India is ready to make all possible contributions towards a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict,” Modi wrote.

The Prime Minister emphasized that India remains dedicated to global peace efforts, including seeking a diplomatic solution to the Ukraine war.

Putin Praises Modi’s Leadership

Earlier in the day, President Putin congratulated Modi through a Telegram message, which was published on the Kremlin’s official website.

In his note, Putin praised Modi for personally advancing bilateral relations. “You are making a great personal contribution to strengthening the particularly privileged strategic partnership between our countries and to developing mutually beneficial Russian-Indian cooperation in various areas,” Putin said, according to the Izvestia Multimedia Information Centre (Izvestia MIC).

Other World Leaders Extend Wishes

Alongside Putin, several global leaders also sent greetings to Modi on his 75th birthday.

Those who reached out included Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, highlighting Modi’s strong international ties.

Trump Calls Modi Amid Strained US-India Relations

A day before Modi’s birthday, US President Donald Trump personally called him to extend birthday wishes. The conversation has sparked hopes of a reset in US-India relations, which have faced serious strain in recent months.

Tensions escalated after Washington doubled tariffs on Indian goods to 50 percent, a move that had caused a sharp decline in trade discussions between the two countries.

A Day of Diplomatic Gestures

Modi’s 75th birthday became a moment of global diplomatic outreach, with world leaders using the occasion to reaffirm partnerships and goodwill.

While Putin celebrated India-Russia cooperation, Trump’s call hinted at the possibility of easing tensions between New Delhi and Washington.

Modi, in turn, signaled India’s commitment to peace and strategic alliances, particularly in light of ongoing global conflicts.
