Russian Missiles Contain Parts from UK, US, Japan, and Germany, Says Zelenskyy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged tougher sanctions after finding foreign-made parts, including British microchips, in Russian weapons used in a deadly strike.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russian missiles and drones used in a weekend attack contained British-made microchips. He said investigators found over 100,000 foreign-made parts inside these weapons.

He added that components from Germany, Japan, and the United States were also discovered. Zelenskyy called for tougher and more “effective” sanctions to stop Russia from getting these parts.

Russia Launches Massive Attack

On Sunday, Russian forces fired 496 drones and 53 missiles at Ukraine. The strikes killed five people and damaged power plants across the country. Tens of thousands lost electricity.

Zelenskyy said these findings prove that current sanctions are not working. He warned that Russia still manages to build missiles and drones using imported technology.

UK Responds to Claims

The UK’s Department for Business and Trade (DBT) said it had already cracked down on companies sending restricted parts to Russia.

“We take reports of goods from UK companies being found in Russian weaponry incredibly seriously,” a government spokesperson told the BBC.

The spokesperson said Britain had “banned the export of thousands of goods to Russia, including every battlefield item Ukraine has brought to our attention.” They added that the UK had imposed “the most severe package of sanctions.

Starmer Calls Hamas Attack a ‘Living Nightmare’

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer marked two years since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023. He called the past two years a “living nightmare” for many.

He also said antisemitism had increased in the UK. His remarks came days after two Jewish men were killed in an attack at a Manchester synagogue.

“Today we mark two years since the horrifying attacks on Israel by Hamas terrorists on October 7th 2023…. The worst attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust,” Starmer said.

“Since that awful day, so many have endured a living nightmare,” he added. Starmer promised to keep working to bring home British hostages still held in Gaza.

Global Tensions Rising

Both conflicts — Russia’s war in Ukraine and the war in Gaza — continue to raise global concerns. They show how sanctions, diplomacy, and security efforts remain under heavy strain worldwide.
